Reading Buddies

A Drop-In Volunteer Project for All Ages

Reading Buddies is a drop-in volunteer project for all ages to help adoptable pets relax in the busy shelter environment. Grab a book and help the animals de-stress to the sound of your voice reading aloud to the animals.

People interested in reading to the animals must watch the video below before participating in the program. You can bring your own book or borrow one of ours. Per shelter policy, minors must be accompanied by an adult guardian while visiting animals. We ask you to keep your reading session to about 15 minutes per animal.

Supporters looking to complete community service hours are encouraged to participate. Participants can earn a maximum of 10 hours, provided they have approval from their community service coordinator.

Just sign in at the front desk and get ready to share a story.
