Reading Buddies

A Drop-In Volunteer Project for All Ages

Reading Buddies is a drop-in volunteer project for all ages to help adoptable pets relax in the busy shelter environment. Grab a book and help the animals de-stress to the sound of your voice reading aloud to the animals.

You can bring your own book or borrow one of ours. Per shelter policy, minors must be accompanied by an adult guardian while visiting animals.  Reading sessions are restricted to the Cat Adoption Room, Charlotte’s Cat Corner, and the Small Animal Room. Sessions may be limited if the adoption rooms are crowded, especially during peak hours. Groups for Reading Buddies must be limited to 4 people or less, including an adult chaperone.

Just sign in at the front desk and get ready to share a story!
