October Is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month!
Adopting is a big decision, and an important one, especially during a pandemic! When a family adopts a new pet, they not only help a homeless animal, but make room in our shelter for another pet in need.
Adopt a Shelter Dog month recognizes dogs (and even cats) who have found their forever homes. If you and your friends or family are interested in getting a dog, we encourage you to consider adopting.
Before you start looking, make sure you are able to take on the responsibilities associated with pet ownership and are able to provide quality love and care for your new companion.
Be prepared:
Approximate annual costs for owning a dog (and other pets)
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a valid ID with current address
- Renters must provide their landlord’s name and phone number, or a copy of the lease stating pets are allowed
- All adult members of the household should be present or in agreement with adopting the pet
