Donate Crypto

Why Donate Crypto to Anti-Cruelty?
Anti-Cruelty strives to be innovative and accessible to our diverse audiences. One way we do this is by providing numerous ways to support the organization through fundraising. Donors may find it beneficial to make contributions of cryptocurrency and should consult their tax adviser regarding how donations of cryptocurrency and other highly appreciated assets may fit into their tax strategy. We accept donations in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and over 100 additional leading cryptocurrencies.

If you have any questions on ways you can support AC, please feel free to contact our development team at development@anticruelty.org or 312-645-8200.

Frequency asked questions:

Does AC accept cryptocurrency as donations?
Yes! Through our cryptocurrency fundraising partnership with The Giving Block and our crypto wallet, Gemini, we accept a growing list of cryptocurrencies including the big ones: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and the mighty Dogecoin (DOGE).

Are cryptocurrency donations tax deductible?
Yes, cryptocurrency donations are tax deductible. The IRS currently classifies cryptocurrency donations as property, meaning they are not subject to capital gains tax and are tax-deductible on your return. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. Plus, cryptocurrency donations provide 30% more income directly to our work than traditional cash gifts.

Can I donate crypto anonymously?
Yes. Crypto donations can be given anonymously. Donors also have the option to still receive a donation receipt, via The Giving Block directly, so you can still claim your crypto donation on your tax return but retain your anonymity from Anti-Cruelty.

How are crypto donations processed?

Crypto charitable donations are processed quickly and safely with The Giving Block and Gemini Trust Exchange.
