Art from the Heart

Attention young artists! The Anti-Cruelty Society is now accepting submissions for our annual Art from the Heart contest and we want to showcase your work!  

Students from grades K-12 are invited to take part in this juried competition which showcases the talent and kindness of Chicagoland youth. This year’s theme is “Compassion in Action.” Show us how you are being kind to both pets and people in your community through your original animal-themed artwork.

Prizes 

All contest participants will receive an official Art from the Heart participation certificate. First place winners in each grade category will receive a cash prize in addition to an Art from the Heart awards certificate. Contest prizes are as follows: $500 high school; $250 middle school; $100 elementary school. A special thanks to Dresner Design and the River North Design District for sponsoring this year’s Art from the Heart prizes.

Exhibition & Awards Ceremony

Art from the Heart entries will be on display in The Anti-Cruelty Society’s education center from Friday, September 6, 2019 through Friday, October 4, 2019 as part of the 5th Annual River North Design District Gallery Walk. Public viewing will take place on Friday, September 6 from 5–9 p.m. and Saturday, September 7 from 11 a.m.–4 p.m.. Winners of the contest will be announced on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 12 p.m. during our Art from the Heart Awards Ceremony. Students and their families are encouraged to attend. All participants will be notified of the final contest results by email.

Participating students should complete an Art from the Heart contest form and send or deliver their work to:

Submission Deadline: Friday, August 23

Accepted Mediums: 2D, 3D, multimedia

Artwork Parameters: Artwork must be 8.5" x 11" in size or smaller. Matted, mounted, framed, laminated, or folded artwork will not be judged.

Multimedia Submissions: Students submitting multimedia work must send it to us in a digital format to education@anticruelty.org along with the Art from the Heart contest form.

Additional Details: All artwork must be original. Traced images will not be judged Artwork will be returned upon request.
