Find a Veterinarian

One of the best ways to ensure a long and happy life for your pet is to establish a relationship with a veterinarian. Anti-Cruelty recommends visiting your veterinarian within the first few weeks of adopting your new family member to discuss your pet’s health needs and to start a wellness program to best care for your pet.

Two Levels of Benefits

Several area veterinary hospitals support Anti-Cruelty and provide special services to our adopters.
Our Veterinary Ambassadors Program offers two levels of benefits:

• VCA Animal Hospitals offers adopters a complimentary health exam within 14 days of your adoption date as well as complimentary 14 day follow up care (up to $500). VCA Hospitals have 25 clinics in the Chicago area and more than 800 clinics across the country. See a list of VCA partners below or visit vcahospitals.com to find a location near you.

• Anti-Cruelty also partners with other local Veterinary Ambassadors who will provide our adopters with an initial wellness examination for $20. This benefit is limited to one visit within 90 days of adopting from Anti-Cruelty. In addition, any and all diagnostic tests, vaccinations, or procedures recommended at the wellness examination will be provided at a 10% discount. Some of our Veterinary Ambassadors may include additional benefits. See a list of other local veterinary partners. below.

Wellness Fairs

Wellness Fairs bring the Anti-Cruelty Care Clinic straight to Chicagoland communities!

Our Wellness Fair events aim to provide a comprehensive veterinary experience without having to make the trip to our River North clinic. Free services include:

• Physical Exams
• Core Vaccines: Rabies, DHPP (Distemper), and Leptospirosis
• Microchipping
• Referrals to other Anti-Cruelty programming
• Sign-up for free Spay/Neuter surgery

Helpful Information:

• We will begin seeing pets and their families for services starting at 11 a.m. Please do not arrive earlier than 8:30 a.m.. Anti-Cruelty will arrive by 9:30 a.m. and will provide numbers to clients standing in line. Once you receive a number, you will be welcome to move around with your dog.
• If we run out of spaces at our event, please check in with us so we can refer you to our next fair, or another fair that is happening soon in Cook County.
• Many of our events involve waiting outside due to the volume of families present. Some events are completely outdoors! Please dress for the weather, come with a lawn chair, and bring any items that will help you stay comfortable while waiting. We will do our best to provide a comfortable environment as well.
• There will be a lot of dogs present at this event! Please be mindful of not interacting with other pets without express permission from the pet’s owner. Many dogs will feel more stressed than usual at an event like this, give yourself and your dog some grace if you are feeling tense.
