About The Event
Give back to pets in need at The Anti-Cruelty Society with our Martin Luther King Jr. day of service. Join us virtually to help homeless pets. Spend a few minutes, or the whole session, as we craft and learn more about animals!
WHAT: Day of service
Join us virtually for:
- Guided crafting to make toys and beds for shelter pets
- Live dog demos with training tips
- Meet and greets with shelter pets
- Q&A with shelter staff
WHEN: Monday, January 18, 2021
- Session 1: 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Session 2: 1 –3 p.m.
WHO: Individuals, families, community groups, businesses
WHERE: Online via Zoom
HOW: Sign up to take part in Session 1 or 2 here. Drop-ins are also welcome. Collect your own supplies in advance or sign up to pick-up a free crafting kit for your household. Kits are available on a first-come first-served basis. To request a crafting kit in advance, or for more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
DIY items that will be demonstrated and are needed for our shelter pets:
- 2 yards of fleece
- 1 T-shirt
- 6 corks
- 1 bag of craft feathers
- 4 pipe cleaners
- Cotton balls
- 1 bag dried catnip
- Cotton fabric (old shirts work great)
- 1 ruler
- Non-toxic glue (such as white school glue)
- Craft Instructions (See links above)
Thanks for your support. Once you've crafted the pet items, feel free to drop off your donations at The Anti-Cruelty Society, 510 N. LaSalle, Chicago IL 60654, any day of the week, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Or you may mail the items to the Society at 157 W. Grand Ave., Chicago IL 60654.
If you don't live in Illinois, please find your local animal shelter or rescue and donate your items to help other pets.
