Foster Candidates

Animals are listed in three categories: dogs needing foster, cats needing foster, and kittens needing foster (this includes moms with kittens to care for!). Click the yellow banners to expand each section.

Length of Stay: Can go for anytime

Any available adult dog who is over 30 pounds can also go to foster. Just double-check they're located at our River North Location.  Please reach out to the foster team for more information.

Length of Stay: 1-2 Months (foster needed for June)

I am ON  meds 

Recovering from FHO (hip) surgery. Will need to exercise and to use injured leg as much as possible to regain function/strength. Will be on Carprofen  twice a day. For the most part" potty trained. Foster parents should keep Beauty on a consistent and frequent schedule for the first few weeks she is home to get her used to going outside. Lived with two other large dogs in previous home. No reported issues. Frequently went to the dog park and was social/playful. Carte trained, While at the shelter, highly aroused in kennel and when taken out for walks. Jumps up against handler incessantly. Very affectionate and wants a lot of attention. Highly food motivated. Only appears to know "sit" command

Hx: minimal, from another shelter; noted to be "sweet". On gaba for stress. Hiss/swat at people, behavior has deteriorated in-shelter over past couple weeks, needs to decompress.

Has a URI infection: thin. Missing annual vaccine and is not yet neutered. Frozen,  burning head in blankets but tolerated handling.

Both have URI, are not spayed, are really shy, and will need time to decompress

We are NOT currently on meds 

Recovering from URI but need about 2 weeks more to recover.  No medication at this time.  There was a live flea on one kitten but then were treated with selamectin and that should take care of the problem.
