Knitters for Critters
The new Knitters for Critters program is a fun opportunity for crafty people who are looking to help a shelter pet. Using basic knitting or crochet skills, program participants create blankets, toys and other enrichment items for cats and dogs – and all from the comfort of their own home!
Whether it’s making a soft knit blanket for a dog to rest upon, or a fun crochet toy for a cat to bat around their kennel, making these handmade items is a great way for people to enrich a shelter animal’s stay.
Interested in taking part? Use the collection of tutorials below to create a set of goodies on your own, or consider forming a crafting group in your community to make items as a team. Completed items can be donated directly to our main adoption center at 510 N. LaSalle Drive.
