In Loving Memory
One of our most critical programs is our humane rescue operations. We send trained investigators into the community to help the defenseless, vulnerable and voiceless. We use this as an opportunity to help people learn about how to best provide for a companion pet or we make sure the animal is safe. Our street warriors lost one of our best with the passing of Dotty Cowles-Newton.
The work we do as is important as it is difficult and Dotty was a fearless leader who protected these animals in the community. Dotty passed away in October after a brave battle with cancer. Over her 24 years with the Society, Dotty investigated complaints of animal abuse and neglect, always having the animal’s best interest at the center of her work. She helped thousands of animals have a second chance at life. Her passion for her work was felt by all who knew her, including each animal she encountered. Dotty is missed dearly by her colleagues but leaves a legacy of helping animals that continues to inspire the work of all.
Donations in Dotty’s name will help care for animals in need and provide support for our community education efforts. To donate, click here.
