The Anti-Cruelty Society Offering Pet Food and Supplies to Government Employees Furloughed by Shutdown
Free pet supplies being offered at the Society Friday, January 11, Saturday, January 12, and Sunday, January 13

CHICAGO—The Anti-Cruelty Society is offering pet-owning furloughed Federal Government employees free pet supplies to help them during this financially difficult time. Supplies available include dry or wet food for cats and dogs as well as treats. Supplies are available one a first come, first served basis

“The Anti-Cruelty Society is committed to helping our community of pet owners,” says David Dinger, Acting President of The Anti-Cruelty Society. “With many pet owners not receiving pay checks due to the government shut down, we want to make sure their cats and dogs continue to be well-cared for and as Chicago’s oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organizations, we wanted to offer assistance in any way possible.”

Proof of employment status from the government is required to pick up supplies and they will be available as supplies last.

Pick up times are: Friday, January 11, noon-7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12 and Sunday, January 13 from noon to 5 p.m. at 510 N. LaSalle St. in Chicago and updates on supply availability will be provided on the Society’s website, anticruelty.org or on social media.

Pet food pantries are available at other locations throughout Chicago. A full list is available at anticruelty.org/foodpantries.
